Ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have returned to standard operational status, and no violations of Polish airspace were reported, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said.

During the heightened alert, airports in Rzeszów (southeast Poland) and Lublin (eastern Poland) were temporarily closed to ensure freedom of movement for military aircraft.

The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency has now confirmed that both airports are open again.

Polish and allied fighter jets, along with an airborne early warning aircraft, had been deployed as a preventive measure.

The Operational Command thanked NATO allies - including the Royal Norwegian Air Force, Spanish Air Force, Royal Netherlands Air Force, and Germany’s Bundeswehr for support via Patriot systems - which reinforced the protection of Polish airspace.

Polish forces will continue monitoring the situation in Ukraine under Operation Eastern Dawn and remain on standby to ensure the security of the country’s airspace.
