According to local police in northern Poland, officers were called to an apartment on Monday at around 9:30 p.m. following reports of a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, they subdued the man, who had attacked his family with a knife, injuring himself as well. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts, the young girl could not be saved.

The other injured family members were taken to hospital, while the suspect was transported there under police supervision.

Authorities confirmed the following day that the man was a member of the Special Protection Service, a government security formation responsible for protecting senior officials and government buildings. The incident is under investigation by prosecutors.

Officials reported that the officer had served in the SOP for 23 years and had passed his routine medical examination in October, remaining fit for duty.

The Special Protection Service expressed condolences to the family and close relatives of the child.

It also confirmed ongoing contact with the hospital in Słupsk, a city in northern Poland, where the other injured individuals are being treated, and pledged to provide medical and psychological support for the officer and his family.
