Unlike traditional races, the Wings for Life World Run has no fixed finish line. Participants begin the race at 1:00 p.m. local time, while a special “Catcher Car” starts its pursuit 30 minutes later, at 1:30 p.m. Former Polish ski jumping champion Adam Małysz will once again drive the vehicle through the streets of Poznań.
In this race, runners are ranked not by their finishing time, but by the distance they manage to cover.
The event has been held since 2014 under the motto: “We run for those who can’t.” All proceeds from entry fees will support research into spinal cord injuries.
The Wings for Life World Run is an international event, and Poznań is one of six European cities selected to host a flagship race this year. Simultaneous races will also take place in Vienna, Munich, Ljubljana, Zug in Switzerland, and Breda in the Netherlands.
Last year’s Poznań edition was won by Dariusz Nożyński, who covered 67.3 kilometers, while Martyna Młynarczyk was the top female runner with a distance of 57.8 kilometers.
