Tusk said Poland’s security and future depend on the strength of its armed forces, the efficiency of the state and economy, and the unity of the nation and its military and civilian leadership, both today and in times of crisis.
Referring to the university’s project titled “Governing the state amid an escalating armed conflict and war,” Tusk called on politicians to develop solutions that would allow all Polish state institutions to act as one coherent, efficient and responsible mechanism in times of danger.
He said this requires knowledge, experience and exercises, but also “the courage to challenge solutions that no longer correspond to the scale and pace of modern threats and changes, particularly on today’s battlefield.”
He added that he hears from allies in Europe and elsewhere that Poland has become the most respected and valued ally.
“The War Studies University is a special place, where ways of acting and thinking, as well as innovations that are crucial to Poland’s security, come together, both in the military and civilian spheres,” Tusk said.
He said that there can be no sovereign homeland without a sovereign, well-trained and patriotic army, describing the university as an institution of the highest skills and qualities.
