Poles increasingly seek removal of personal data from Google search results, report says

20.10.2026 12:00
Poles have submitted 4,800 requests since the start of the year to remove a total of 16,100 URLs from Google search results, already exceeding the 13,800 URLs covered by requests in all of 2024, Rzeczpospolita reported, citing Google Transparency Report data.

By mid-October, 246,600 such requests had been submitted across Europe, covering 729,000 URLs. Poland accounted for about 2 percent of requests.

Requests from Poland covered 1,159 URLs in July and 2,056 in September.

Experts link the increase to a high-profile campaign against deepfakes and fake advertisements involving Rafał Brzoska, InPost’s president, who has been fighting Meta for more effective action against online scams.

Robert Niczewski, a partner at Bellini Market Research, told Rzeczpospolita that the increase suggests anti-deepfake campaigns, including those initiated by Brzoska, are having an effect.

According to Niczewski, fewer than half of Polish requests were approved in August, compared with more than 60 percent in September.

More than 90 percent of requests come from private individuals rather than businesses, politicians or celebrities. They concern, among other things, false information, personal data and content that damages a person’s reputation.
