Świątek on Wednesday night outplayed Denmark’s Wozniacki 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in their second-round women's singles match at the WTA Rogers Cup tournament held in Toronto.
Świątek’s next opponent will be Japan’s Naomi Osaka, who is No. 2 seed in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz made it through to the third round on the same night after beating Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the men’s singles at the ATP 1000 Rogers Cup competition in Canada’s Montreal.
His next match will be against France’s Gaël Monfils.
