Polish disabled athletes win medals in Dubai

Polish disabled track-and-field athletes won three medals, two silver and one bronze, on day one of the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai.

Poland’s Lech Stoltman took the silver in the men’s shot put (in the F55 category) on Thursday, with a best throw of 12.22 metres.

Piotr Kosewicz earned another silver for Poland that day in the men’s discus throw (in the F52 category), with an effort of 20.58 m, ahead of countryman Robert Jachimowicz, who claimed the bronze with a best throw of 19.91 m.

More than 1,400 competitors from 120 countries, among them 42 Poles, are taking part in the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships, which started in Dubai on Thursday.

The event, which celebrates the sporting talent of disabled track-and-field athletes from across the world, runs until November 15.
