Gortat was waived by the Los Angeles Clippers in February 2019 and has not been active in basketball since.

During his 12 years in the NBA, he also played for Orlando Magic, the Phoenix Suns and the Washington Wizards.

Gortat played 806 matches in 13 seasons, earning over USD 95 million in total, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Only two other Poles, Cezary Trybański and Maciej Lampe, had the opportunity to play in the world’s most prestigious basketball league.

The Polish Heritage Night in Los Angeles has been organised by Gortat and his MG13 Foundation every year since 2012, in an effort to promote Polish culture in the US.
