The Polish-Brazilian duo, who are the no. 2 seeds, on Wednesday dispatched Hungary’s Attila Balázs and Brazil’s Fernando Romboli 6-3, 7-5.
In their bid for a place in the semi-finals, Kubot and Melo will take on the winners of a match later on Wednesday between Czech-Slovak duo Roman Jebavý and Igor Zelenay, and Brazilian-Dutch pair Marcelo Demoliner and Matwé Middelkoop.
Kubot and Melo were in 2017 named the men’s doubles team of the year by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
