Polish professional boxer Ewa Brodnicka has kept her WBO female super featherweight title, defeating by points Belgium's Djemilla Gontaruk at a gala night in Dzierżoniów on Saturday. With 19 wins behind her, the Polish boxing champion has not lost a fight yet in her career. Ewa Brodnicka has held the WBO female super featherweight title since 2018.
Meanwhile Robert Helenius scored a victory over previously unbeaten Adam Kownacki, stopping the Polish boxing star in the fourth round of a WBA Heavyweight Title Eliminator at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on March 7, even though the 30-year-old from Łomża had evidently dominated in the ring.
"It wasn't my night," Kownacki told media after the fight. "It's boxing. It's a tough sport and things just didn't go my way tonight. It was a learning experience and I'm going to go back to the drawing board and get back to work.
"He hit me with a good shot. I knew what was going on, but I'm just upset with myself. It is what it is."
This was Adam Kownacki's first defeat in the ring after an unbroken series of 20 wins (including 15 by KO).
