Pole vaulter puts bib up for sale to help fight virus

Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis has put up for auction his bib from a Polish meet during which he set a world record in the sport.

Proceeds from the sale will contribute to a fundraiser by a Swedish radio station aiming to help in the fight against the coronavirus, Poland’s PAP news agency has reported.

The 20-year-old American-born Swede in February cleared a record 6.17 metres at the Orlen Copernicus Cup, an indoor track-and-field competition in Toruń, north-central Poland.

A week later in Glasgow he improved on his record, clearing 6.18 metres.
