The event is due to be held in the western Polish city of Poznań from October 9 to 11, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

The championships, originally scheduled for June, will mark the first international competition in the sport since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Fans will not be allowed to attend due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19, but much of the action is expected to be broadcast live internationally.

Poland’s Poznań previously hosted Europe’s rowing elite competing for continental championship titles in 1958, 2007 and 2015.

Team Poland won four medals, one gold, two silver and one bronze, at last year's European Rowing Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland.
