Zabłocki's successes also included nine medals at the world championships between 1953 and 1963 – four gold, one silver and four bronze.
An architect by profession, he developed a fine career in the design of sports facilities. He also co-designed the presidential place in Damascus and a monument to the Silesian Insurgents in Katowice. He held a doctorate in the technical sciences. In 1999 he received the title of a Professor.
A man of many talents, Zabłocki had several one-man exhibitions of his paintings and drawings. He wrote several books on architecture and his sports career. He held many high Polish state distinctions.
He was married for fifty four years to the prominent actress Alina Janowska, who died in 2017. He is survived by a son and a daughter. (mk)
