Handball: Poland beat Uruguay at world championship

Poland’s national handball team on Thursday beat Uruguay 30:16 in the main round of the men’s world championship in Egypt.

Polish player Arkadiusz Moryto found the back of the net eight times in the group 1 match.

In a bid for a place in the quarter-finals, the Poles next face off against Hungary on Saturday and Germany on Monday.

The two top squads from each of four six-team groups will advance to the quarter-final stage, which will be held on January 27.

The final of the championship is to be held on January 31 in Cairo.

Earlier in the tournament, Poland beat Brazil 33:23, won 30:28 against Tunisia and lost 26:27 to Spain.
