The Polish duo on Thursday succumbed 4-6, 4-6 to Elena Vesnina and Aslan Karatsev of the Russian Olympic Committee in the quarterfinals, failing to live up to inflated expectations and leaving fans at home heartbroken.

With Kubot and Świątek eliminated, no more Polish players are left standing in the Olympic tennis tournament.

Poland's Świątek on Monday crashed out of the women's singles competition in Tokyo, after losing 3-6 6-7 to Paula Badosa of Spain in the second round.
