The 20-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 9 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), cruised past British qualifier Harriet Dart 6-3, 6-0 in their first-round clash Down Under on Tuesday.

Up next for the Polish tennis player at the Australian Open is Sweden's Rebecca Peterson.

Świątek, who last month teamed up with a new interim coach, Tomasz Wiktorowski, reached the fourth round of the women’s singles at the 2021 Australian Open.

Świątek in October 2020 won the French Open, claiming her maiden Grand Slam title and becoming the first Pole to lift a Grand Slam singles trophy.

The 2022 Australian Open runs until January 30.
