During the event in the Polish capital on Tuesday, 35 members of the 57-strong national team pledged to compete fairly and with sportsmanship ahead of their departure for Beijing, news agencies reported.
The group included speed skaters, biathletes, snowboarders, Nordic combined competitors, lugers, as well as some of Team Poland's Alpine and cross-country skiers.
The rest of the Polish team, including figure skaters and ski jumpers, will take their Olympic oaths after arriving in China, the state PAP news agency reported.
Flag bearers announced
Officials announced that renowned speed skaters Natalia Czerwonka and Zbigniew Bródka would carry the Polish flag during the opening ceremony for the Games in Beijing.
The 33-year-old Czerwonka won silver in the team event at the 2014 Games in Sochi, while Bródka, 37, claimed an individual gold and a team bronze in Sochi and was also Poland’s flag bearer at the Pyeongchang Olympics four years ago.
Andrzej Kraśnicki, who leads the Polish Olympic Committee, congratulated the athletes on making the Olympic team and wished them success in Beijing.
57 Polish athletes to compete
Poland’s team for the Beijing Olympics comprises 57 athletes, including 30 women.
Most of the team members are due to leave for China on Wednesday, accompanied by coaches, doctors and officials, as well as reporters from public broadcaster Polish Radio, who will be bringing the Games to listeners, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Meanwhile, two speed skaters, Karolina Bosiek and Damian Żurek, are set to miss Wednesday’s flight and arrive in Beijing at a later date, because of having tested positive for the coronavirus, officials said.
The Beijing Olympics take place between February 4 and 20, with athletes from 84 countries set to compete in more than 100 events. The Polish team will be represented in 10 of the Games' 15 disciplines.
Poland has so far won 22 medals at the winter Olympics, seven gold, seven silver, and eight bronze.
The Beijing Games will be held under strict safety protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the PAP news agency reported.
