The 20-year-old Pole, coached by countryman Tomasz Wiktorowski, defeated Osaka 6-4, 6-0 in their women's singles final on Saturday.

After winning the Miami Open, a major US tournament that is sometimes referred to as "the fifth Grand Slam," Świątek is expected to advance to world No. 1 in the Women's Tennis Association's rankings, which will be published on April 4, becoming the first Polish player to hold that distinction.

The 2022 Miami Open began on March 21 and runs until April 3.
