Tennis: Poland’s Świątek on course to defend Italian Open title

Poland’s world No. 1 Iga Świątek is looking to defend her title at the Italian Open tennis tournament in Rome, after she beat Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and advanced to the final.

The Polish top seed saw off Sabalenka 6-2, 6-1 in their women's singles semifinal in the Italian capital on Saturdaytallying her 27th consecutive victory.

Świątek will now face either Tunisia's Ons Jabeur or Russia's Daria Kasatkina in the championship match.

The 20-year-old Pole last month won the Stuttgart Open tournament in Germany, claiming her seventh career singles title.
