The game kicks off at 8:45 p.m. at the National Stadium in Warsaw and follows three previous Nations League fixtures in which the Poles beat Wales 2-1lost 1-6 to the Belgians away, and tied 2-2 with the Netherlands in Rotterdam.

Poland, captained by star striker Robert Lewandowski, are looking to make amends against Belgium in front of a home crowd after their humbling defeat in Brussels last Wednesday.

At a pre-match news conference in Warsaw on Monday, Poland manager Czesław Michniewicz said: "We have a detailed plan for the Belgium match. There are doubts over two positions in the starting line-up; everything else is decided. This is the last game of this month. The Belgians know us, we know them. A team comes together when it has to go through matches like the [6-1 defeat against] Belgium. We went through it together."

Poland are ranked 26th worldwide by football's governing body FIFA, while Belgium are No. 2 in the FIFA table.

After three rounds of fixtures, Poland are third in their Nations League Group A4, with four points, as many as Belgium and three less than the Netherlands.

The Nations League is the European football governing body UEFA’s newest national-team competition that is now in its third edition.

The competition is designed to enable teams to play against those that are similarly ranked and may also offer an alternative path for teams to qualify for the 2024 European championships.

Portugal won the first edition of the Nations League in 2019, while France won the 2020/2021 UEFA Nations League after beating Spain 2-1 in the final in Milan in October.

The 2022 World Cup, meanwhile, will be held in Qatar from November 21 to December 18.

Poland have been drawn to play Argentina, Mexico and Saudi Arabia in the group stage of the tournament.

The Polish team qualified for the World Cup after defeating Sweden 2-0 in a playoff at home in late March.
