Football: Poland stay at No. 26 in FIFA rankings

Poland have retained their No. 26 spot in the latest world football rankings, which were released on Thursday after a series of Nations League matches.

The Polish team, captained by star striker Robert Lewandowski, last week lost 0-1 to Belgium at home in its fourth match in the group stage of the Nations League.

In their previous three Nations League games, the Poles beat Wales 2-1 on home turf, lost 1-6 to the Belgians in Brussels, and tied 2-2 with the Netherlands in Rotterdam.

Brazil are at the top of the FIFA rankings, followed by Belgium, who finished third at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Argentina are at No. 3, ahead of world champions and 2020/2021 UEFA Nations League winners France in fourth spot.

Poland qualified for the 2022 World Cup after defeating Sweden 2-0 in a playoff at home in late March.

The have been drawn to play Argentina, Mexico and Saudi Arabia in the group stage of the tournament.

The 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar from November 21 to December 18.

Poland's lowest place in the world rankings was 78th, in 2013.
