Lewandowski’s goals at the Spanish giants' iconic Camp Nou stadium came in the 82nd and 92nd minutes of play on Wednesday night and marked the 90th and 91st times the Polish star striker has scored in the Champions League.

The 34-year-old Pole, FIFA's world player of the year for 2020 and 2021, is the competition’s third-highest all-time scorer, behind Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina’s Lionel Messi.

Several other Poland internationals, among them Napoli midfielder Piotr Zieliński and Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, are also hoping to make their mark in this season’s Champions League.

Thirty-two teams are taking part in a total of six rounds of fixtures in the Champions League group stage, which kicked off last month and will conclude on November 2.

The Champions League final will be played on June 10 next year at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

Lewandowski was in the summer officially unveiled as a player for Barcelona after the Spanish giants confirmed they had reached an agreement with German champions Bayern Munich for the transfer of the Polish striker.
