Poland’s Żyła third, Kubacki fourth at ski-jumping World Cup

Polish ski jumper Piotr Żyła finished third and countryman Dawid Kubacki placed fourth in a ski-jumping World Cup event in Ruka, Finland on Saturday.

Żyła produced jumps of 143 and 142 metres, while Kubacki jumped 139.5 metres in both rounds, to finish behind Slovenia's Anze Lanisek, and Austria's Stefan Kraft.

Poland's Kamil Stoch came 17th and Paweł Wąsek was 25th, while Aleksander Zniszczoł, Tomasz Pilch and Jakub Wolny did not make it through to the second round.

After three individual events this season, Kubacki tops the overall World Cup standings, with 250 points, ahead of Lanisek with 186 points and Kraft with 185.

The 2022/2023 ski-jumping World Cup circuit, run by the International Ski Federation (FIS), features a total of 39 competitions, including 32 individual events, in various countries.
