This will be the 41-year-old’s second match as a referee at the tournament in Qatar, after a group-stage game between France and Denmark, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Four years ago, Marciniak officiated two games at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Marciniak will be assisted by Polish linesmen Paweł Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz at the World Cup stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Tomasz Kwiatkowski will be a video assistant referee for the Argentina vs. Australia match, which kicks off at 8 p.m. Polish time, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Thirty-six referees from various countries have been selected to officiate during this year’s World Cup, which opened on November 20 and runs until December 18.
Teams from 32 nations are scheduled to play a total of 64 matches at eight stadiums in Qatar before the tournament wraps up.
The Polish team has advanced to the last 16 of the tournament despite losing 0-2 to Argentina in its final group-stage game on Wednesday.
The Poles finished second in their Group C and will face world champions France in the round of 16 on Sunday.
