The new Football Eagle Awards were handed out for the first time at a ceremony in Warsaw on Tuesday, the i.pl website reported.
The men’s top prize went to Swedish marksman Mikael Ishak, who scored the most goals for Polish first-division side Lech Poznań in 2022.
Meanwhile, the women’s Football Eagle Award went to Agata Bała, who scored the most goals for second-tier side Nowy Świat Górzno over the course of the year, reporters were told.
There were also prizes for top scorers in every region. The winners included Pogoń Szczecin winger Kamil Grosicki.
Guests at Tuesday’s awards ceremony included Sports Minister Kamil Bortniczuk and Łukasz Wachowski, secretary-general of the Polish Football Association (PZPN), the i.pl website reported.
Football Eagle Awards
The new accolades are given to the most prolific goal scorers across the top four divisions of Polish men’s and women’s football, officials said.
Set up by the Polska Press media group, in association with the Ministry of Sport and the PZPN, the Football Eagle Awards are presented in media partnership with public broadcaster Polish Radio.
