Tennis: Poland’s Hurkacz through to 2nd round of Australian Open

Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz has made it through to the second round of the men’s singles at the Australian Open Grand Slam tennis tournament in Melbourne.

The Polish world No. 11 on Monday overcame Spanish player Pedro Martinez in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2, 6-2, in their first-round encounter at Melbourne Park.

Polish star Iga Świątek is scheduled to play her first-round women's singles match in Melbourne later on Monday.

The 2023 Australian Open runs until January 29.
