The game was played in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh on Sunday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

With the trio of Lewandowski, Gavi and Pedri in fine form, Barcelona ran out convincing winners over arch-rivals Real.

In doing so, they grabbed their first piece of silverware under manager Xavi, the BBC reported.

Poland’s Lewandowski had a hand in the first goal on 33 minutes, setting up Gavi with a quick left-footed pass.

Gavi then returned the favour, crossing from the left wing for Lewandowski to make it 2-0 on 45 minutes.

It was Lewandowski’s 20 goal in 22 games for Barcelona, the meczyki.pl website reported.

Midway through the second half, the Polish striker surged forward and sprayed a pass out to Gavi on the left. Gavi evaded his marker and again provided a pin-point cross, with Pedri finishing off the move this time, as Barca took a three-goal lead.

Karim Benzema’s late goal for Real proved merely a consolation as Xavi won his first trophy as Barcelona manager.

It is also the first title at Barca for the Polish marksman, who joined the Catalan giants last summer from Germany’s Bayern Munich.
