Tennis: Poland’s Hurkacz moves into 3rd round at Australian Open

Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz has moved into the third round of the men’s singles at the Australian Open Grand Slam tennis tournament, with a hard-fought win over Italy's Lorenzo Sonego in Melbourne on Wednesday.

The Polish world No. 11 won the five-set match 3-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach his first career round of 32 at Melbourne Park.

Earlier on Wednesday, Poland’s Iga Świątek cruised past Colombia's Camila Osorio to enter the third round of the women’s singles at the Australian Open.

Meanwhile, countrywoman Magda Linette beat Egypt's Mayar Sherif to advance to the second round of the women's singles in Melbourne.
