A resident of Poland’s northern port of Gdynia, Krzyszkowski turned 100 last Friday, and he marked the occasion by playing a short game with his son, Tomasz.

The centenarian was cheered on by his two other sons, as well as the mayor of Gdynia, Wojciech Szczurek, and the rector of Gdynia’s Maritime University, Adam Weintrit.

Krzyszkowski had worked at the Maritime University for many years as a boarding house tutor.

Born in 1923 in the northern city of Toruń, today’s senior citizen picked up the tennis racket for the first time at the age of ten.

Having completed his studies in Wrocław, southwestern Poland, he moved to the Baltic port of Gdynia where he has lived since.

In addition to his work at the Maritime University, Krzyszkowski was active as a tennis coach.

Meanwhile, his sons carved out successful careers as tennis players, and then also became coaches.

Two years ago, Tadeusz Krzyszkowski celebrated his 98th birthday playing a match against Poland’s international tennis star, the former World No. 2 Agnieszka Radwańska
