The event, also known as the Indian Wells Masters, is to take place between March 6 and 19, 2023.

The tournament forms part of the Sunshine Double with the Miami Masters.

The Sunshine Double is the name given to the players who win both the Indian Wells and the Miami Masters during the same season. The name comes from the fact that both tournaments are held in hot conditions.

Świątek, who was absolutely dominant last year, won both and will return to defend those titles, the website wrote.

The 21-year-old Pole continues to dominate the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, still over 4,000 points clear of Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka in an unchanged top 20.

Świątek, who has been top seed since April, has not competed since losing to 10th-ranked Elena Rybakina in the last 16 of the Australian Open.

The Indian Wells Open will also feature two other Poles, world No. 10 Hubert Hurkacz in mens’ singles and Magda Linette in womens’ singles, sportowefakty.wp.pl also said.

Linette is not unlikely to be seeded during the tournament, after being catapulted to her career-high WTA ranking of world No. 22 in January 2023, as a result of her advancing to the semifinals of the latest Australian Open, according to the website.

The provisional Indian Wells Open entry list in women’s singles features all of the top players, including Aryna Sabalenka, Ons Jabeur, Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff.
