Świątek, Hurkacz move into third round in Indian Wells

Poland’s top ranked Iga Świątek and Hubert Hurkacz advanced to the third round of the prestigious WTA and ATP tournaments in Indian Wells.

On Saturday night, Świątek eased past American Claire Liu 6-0, 6-1 in the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells.

In the third round, the young Pole will face No. 32 seed Bianca Andreescu, who defeated the American Peyton Stearns 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Hubert Hurkacz, who beat Australian Alexei Popyrin 6:3, 6:3, will also play in the third round.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Magda Linette and Magdalena Fręch lost their matches in the second round and crashed out of the women’s tournament.
