Kraków and 10 other southern Polish cities are preparing to host the 2023 European Games, one of the continent's biggest sporting events this year.

The 3rd European Games will feature 12 days of competition in 26 sports, and more than 7,000 athletes are expected to take part.

Apart from Kraków, which will be the main venue of the Games, competitions will be held in towns and cities such as Krynica-Zdrój, Tarnów and Zakopane.

The organizers are expecting thousands of fans and have prepared about 100,000 tickets. Priced between PLN 20 (EUR 4) and PLN 90 (EUR 20), the tickets will go on sale in April.

"It is always a problem to set prices that would be good for both Polish and foreign fans," Kazimierz Kwasek, Head of the Ticketing Department of the European Games 2023, told Radio Poland's Danuta Isler.

"We decided, however, to set prices acceptable for Polish citizens, which would also be good for other European fans," he added.
