The 26-year-old Pole, coached by American Craig Boynton, last week reached the third round of the men’s singles at the BNP Paribas Open tournament at Indian Wells, where he was beaten by Tommy Paul of the United States.

Hurkacz was previously ranked ninth in the world in late 2021 and early 2022, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Meanwhile, Kamil Majchrzak, a Polish 27-year-old, has dropped nine spots to No. 147 in the latest rankings released on Monday by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).

Spain's Carlos Alcaraz is No. 1 in the ATP ranking, followed by Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas.
