Tennis: Poland’s Linette crashes out of French Open

Poland's Magda Linette has crashed out of the French Open tennis tournament, after being overpowered by Leylah Fernandez in the first round of the women's singles.

The 31-year-old Polish player, ranked world No. 21 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), was ousted by the Canadian player 3-6, 6-1, 3-6., ranked No 51, in their first-round encounter on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Magdalena Fręch and Hubert Hurkacz have made it through to the second round of the French Open Grand Slam tennis tournament in Paris.

Iga Świątek, the world No. 1 in women's tennis, is expected to step on the court on Tuesday.

Świątek is looking to win her third straight title at the French Open.

The 2023 French Open Grand Slam tennis tournament  runs until June 12.
