French Open: Poland’s Hurkacz through to 3rd round of men's singles

Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz has made it through to the third round of the French Open tennis tournament in Paris.

The 26-year-old defeated the Netherlands' Tallon Griekspoor 6-3, 5-7, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 in the second round of the men's singles at the Grand Slam tournament in the French capital on Wednesday.

Hurkacz, 14th in the world ranking, next takes on Peru's Juan Pablo Varillas for a place in the fourth round.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Iga Świątek has cruised into the second round of the women's singles competition at the French Open, with a 6-4, 6-0 win on Tuesday against Cristina Bucșa of Spain.

The Polish world No. 1, who triumphed in Paris last year and in 2020, will take on American Claire Liu in the third round on Thursday.
