French Open: Poland’s Zieliński through to men’s doubles 2nd round

Poland’s Jan Zieliński and Hugo Nys of Monaco have advanced to the second round of the men’s doubles competition at the French Open tennis tournament in Paris.

The duo defeated home favourites Richard Gasquet and Lucas Pouille 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of the Grand Slam event in the French capital on Thursday.

Up next for Zieliński and Nys at Roland Garros is the Brazilian-Australian pairing of Marcelo Melo and John Peers.

Zieliński and Nys last month won the men’s doubles at the Italian Open clay-court tournament in Rome.

In January, the two reached the final of the Australian Open men's doubles in Melbourne.

The 2023 French Open runs until June 11.
