The 21-year-old, who rides for the Jumbo-Visma cycling team, on Tuesday finished ahead of countryman Marijn van den Berg and Italy's Matteo Moschetti in the annual race's 199.1 km fourth leg between the town of Strzelin, in Poland's southwestern Lower Silesia region, and the southern city of Opole.

The fastest Pole, Stanisław Aniołkowski, finished 12th in Opole on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Slovenia's Matej Mohorič, who won the second stage of the 2023 Tour de Pologne two days earlier, retained the race leader’s yellow jersey.

The fifth leg of the 80th Tour de Pologne will on Wednesday see cyclists cover a 199 km route starting in the town of Pszczyna, in Poland's southern Silesia region, and ending in the southern city of Bielsko-Biała near the Czech and Slovak borders.

The remaining stages of the 2023 Tour de Pologne end in the southern cities of Katowice and Kraków.

More than 160 riders from 24 teams based in various countries are taking part in the seven-stage 1,130-km race, which runs until August 4.
