Tennis: Poland’s Hurkacz into Dubai quarterfinals

Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships in the United Arab Emirates, with a straight-set win over Australian Christopher O’Connell.

The 27-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 8 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), dispatched O’Connell 7-6, 6-4 in the round of 16 on Wednesday.

The third-seeded Polish player will now take on France's fifth-seeded Ugo Humbert for a place in the semifinals.

Hurkacz is playing for his eighth career singles title in Dubai.
