Świątek on Sunday beat Greece's Maria Sakkari 6-4, 6-0 to win the BNP Paribas Open tournament at Indian Wells in the United States, claiming her 19th career singles title.

Świątek last month won the Qatar Open tournament in Doha for the third consecutive time.

The 22-year-old Pole in November regained her spot at the top of the world rankings in women's tennis after winning the season-ending WTA Finals tournament in Mexico.

She now leads the WTA rankings with 10,715 points, ahead of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, with 8,195 points, and American Coco Gauff, with 7,150.

The second-highest ranked Polish female player, Magdalena Fręch, moved down four spots to No. 47 in the latest WTA rankings.

Meanwhile, countrywoman Magda Linette slipped from 54th to 55th place in the new world rankings, which were released on Monday.
