Tennis: Poland’s Hurkacz into last 16 at Monte-Carlo Masters

Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz has booked his place in the last 16 of the Monte-Carlo Masters clay-court tournament in the south of France.

The 27-year-old defeated Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut 7-5, 7-6 in the second round of the men’s singles on Wednesday.

The Polish world No. 8 will next face Casper Ruud of Norway.

The Pole, who is coached by American Craig Boynton, on Sunday won the Estoril Open tournament in Portugal.

Hurkacz took down Spain's Pedro Martinez 6-3, 6-4 in the final to claim his eighth singles title and his first on clay.
