Silver for Pole at world judo championships in Abu Dhabi

Poland's Angelika Szymańska has taken the silver at the World Judo Championships in Abu Dhabi in the women's under-63 kg category.

Szymańska succumbed to Joanne van Lieshout of the Netherlands in the gold medal bout on Tuesday.

Her second-place finish is the biggest success of her career so far and the first medal by a Pole at the world championships in the United Arab Emirates.

Szymańska's silver also marks the 36th world judo championship medal for Poland in the history of the global competition.
