Tennis: Poland’s Świątek sweeps into French Open final

Poland's Iga Świątek has eased into the final of the women's singles at the French Open Grand Slam tennis tournament in Paris, with a 6-2, 6-4 win on Thursday against Coco Gauff of the United States.

The Polish world No. 1, who is the defending champion in Paris, will face the winner between Italy's Jasmine Paolini and Russia's Mirra Andreeva in the championship match on Saturday.

Paolini and Andreeva were scheduled to play their semifinal in the French capital later in the day.

Świątek, who celebrated her 23rd birthday last week, triumphed at Roland Garros in 2020, 2022 and 2023.

The 2024 French Open runs until Sunday.
