Although Natalia Kaczmarek has one of the top times for a European sprinter in the 400m in recent years - 49.48 seconds - there are two other Europeans with faster times.

Femke Bol from the Netherlands completed a lap in 49.17 this year, but she has decided to focus on the 400m hurdles in Rome - to save energy for a possible double in the Paris Olympics.

Rhasidat Adeleke from Ireland with a PB of 49.20 achieved last year, will be running in the 400m in Rome.

The Olympics will be a taller order for Poland and Natalia Kaczmarek with several athletes with faster PBs in attendance - from the US and Jamaica in particular.
