Norway’s Stornes and Lovseth win Ironman competition in Warsaw

Norwegian triathletes Casper Nicolai Stornes and his countrywoman Solveig Lovseth have won the Ironman triathlon event in Poland’s capital Warsaw on Sunday.

Participants started the race at 8 am in the morning and could choose between two distances: 5110 event included a 1,5km swim, 40 kilometres bike ride and a 10 kilometres run, while those who chose to participate in the 70.3 event had to swim 1.9 km, cycle 90 km, and run a half-marathon of 21.1 km in and around the capital city.

Some 3,000 athletes from around the world flocked to Poland to take part in the event.

it was accompanied all weekend by a series of family events, including a run for children and a swimming competition.
