The 27-year-old Pole, coached by American Craig Boynton, last week reached the final of the Halle Open grass-court tournament in Germany, where he was edged out by Italy's world No. 1 Jannik Sinner.

Hurkacz won his first singles career title in the Winston-Salem tournament in the US state of North Carolina in August 2019. In January 2021, he claimed his second trophy at the Delray Beach Open in the United States, and followed up with victories at the Miami Open in April 2021, the Moselle Open indoor hard-court tournament in the French city of Metz in September 2021, and the 2022 Halle Open.
In February 2023, Hurkacz won his sixth title by beating home favourite Benjamin Bonzi in the final of the Marseille Open tournament in France.
In October 2023, Hurkacz won his seventh career singles title by defeating Russia's Andrey Rublev in the final of the Shanghai Masters tournament in China.
In April 2024, the Pole won the Estoril Open clay-court tournament in Portugal.
Italy's Sinner remains No. 1 in the ATP ranking, followed by Serbian star Novak Djokovic and Spain's Carlos Alcaraz.
