The match was stopped in the third set with Hurkacz leading 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 3-2.
Hurkacz, seeded 30th, had advanced past Pedro Martinez and Marcos Giron in earlier rounds after receiving a first-round bye. This is his second career meeting with Mensik, whom he defeated in five sets at last year’s Australian Open.
Both players, known for their powerful serves, battled through a tight first set won by Hurkacz in a tiebreak. Mensik responded by breaking serve to claim the second set 6-4.
The decisive third set remained on serve until rain forced another interruption during the sixth game.
Hurkacz reached the quarter-finals in Rome last year and hopes to repeat or surpass that run once play resumes.
According to the latest updates, the match is unlikely to resume before 6.30 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
