Tennis: Poland’s Hurkacz moves into Geneva semifinals

Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz has advanced to the semifinals of the Geneva Open tennis tournament in Switzerland, with a straight-set win over Taylor Fritz of the United States.

The 28-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 31 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), dispatched the top-seeded American 6-3, 7-6 in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

The sixth-seeded Polish player will now take on Austria's Sebastian Ofner for a place in the championship match.

Hurkacz is playing for his eighth career singles title in Geneva.
