The Polish world No. 8 defeated the fourth-ranked Italian 6–1, 6-3 in the semifinals of the women's singles on Friday.

The match marked Świątek's third grass-court win of the season and her first semifinal victory since last year's French Open.

The 24-year-old Pole, a former world No. 1, will face American Jessica Pegula in the championship match on Saturday, her first career final on grass.

Świątek had a bye in the first round and defeated Belarusian Victoria Azarenka 6–4, 6–4 in the round of 16, followed by a 6-4, 7-6 win over Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova in the quarterfinals.

The Bad Homburg Open is a warm-up event before Wimbledon, the grass-court Grand Slam tournament which begins in London on Monday.
