The 24-year-old, coached by Belgian Wim Fissette, lost the final of the Bad Homburg Open grass-court tournament in Germany on Saturday to American Jessica Pegula, 4-6, 5-7.

The match marked Świątek's first career final on grass and her first final on any surface since last year's French Open.

The Bad Homburg Open was a warm-up event for Wimbledon, the grass-court Grand Slam tournament that begins on Monday in London.

Świątek, a former top-ranked player, has five Grand Slam titles to her name.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Magdalena Fręch climbed one spot to No. 24, and countrywoman Magda Linette slipped two places to No. 29 in the new WTA rankings, which were released on Sunday.

Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka remains world No. 1, followed by American Coco Gauff in second place and Pegula in third.
