Italy won the overall competition with 431.5 points across 37 events.

Poland finished second with 405 points, while Germany placed third with 397.

Poland's mixed 4x400-metre relay team of Maksymilian Szwed, Justyna Święty-Ersetic, Daniel Sołtysiak and Natalia Bukowiecka triumphed on
Sunday with a time of 3:09.43, setting a new national and championship record.

Italy finished second in the race, and Britain took third place.

“We’ve proven that we’re still a force in Europe. Poland on top!” said Bukowiecka, who chased down her rivals in the final leg to secure victory.

In the women's javelin, Maria Andrejczyk finished second on the final day of competition in the Spanish capital, with a season-best throw of 60.42 meters, behind Greece’s Elina Tzengko, who won with 62.23.

“I still don’t feel completely in sync with my body, but I’m proud of how I stayed calm and pushed through,” Andrejczyk told Polish broadcaster TVP Sport.

In the women's high jump, Maria Żodzik also placed second with a jump of 1.97 metres.

She failed in two attempts at 2 metres, which was cleared by world record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine.

“I’m happy to bring 15 points for Poland. Clearing 2 metres this season is just a matter of time,” Żodzik said.

Shot putter Konrad Bukowiecki placed third with a throw of 20.55 metres. Italy’s Leonardo Fabbri won with 21.68, while Sweden’s Wictor Petersson threw 21.10 for second place.

“It was tough in the heat, but I came in ranked fourth and finished third — I’m satisfied,” said Bukowiecki.

Filip Rak finished third in the men’s 1,500 metres with a time of 3:40.14.

Portugal’s Isaac Nader won, with 3:39.08, and the Netherlands’ Stefan Nillesen placed second with 3:39.97.

“I felt great during the race. I’m aiming for a medal at the U23 European Championships next month in Bergen,” Rak said.

On the women’s side, Klaudia Kazimierska placed fourth in the 1,500 metres, finishing in 4:09.70.

France’s Agathe Guillemot won in 4:08.72.

“It was a tough race, but I managed to conserve energy and finish strong,” said Kazimierska, who lives and trains in the United States.

She said her focus this season is on the Polish national championships in Bydgoszcz and the World Championships in Tokyo.

In the women’s 3,000-metre steeplechase, Poland's Kinga Królik placed third with a time of 9:49.80, behind Ilona Mononen of Finland and Britain’s Sarah Tait.

“Every point matters. I gave it everything on the final stretch,” Królik said.

Earlier in the championships, Poland's Anita Włodarczyk won the women’s hammer throw, while Pia Skrzyszowska finished second in the women's 100 metres hurdles.

In other results, Poland's Bukowiecka finished second in the women's 400m, while sprinter Ewa Swoboda took second place in the women's 100 metres.

Another second-place finish for Team Poland came from Piotr Lisek, who cleared a height of 5.70 metres in the men's pole vault, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
